The cover of "Freebird" and "Edge of Sundown" were songs usually performed by The Danny Joe Brown Band in the period of absence from Molly Hatchet of lead singer Danny Joe Brown.
When Brown was away from Hatchet, he later formed The Danny Joe Brown Band with future Molly Hatchet guitarist Bobby Ingram and guitarist Steve Wheeler, and was replaced by vocalist Jimmy Farrar, formerly of cover band Raw Energy of Fort Walton Beach, Florida.
Danny Joe Brown had just left the southern metal band Molly Hatchet, which had followed in the footsteps of Lynyrd Skynyrd and Outlaws to achieve wide national success with two multi-platinum albums and international recognition with intensive world tours.

The Outlaws had similarly done exactly the same thing with their song, "Green Grass and High Tides" which became their most famous and requested song.
