The Fort at River's Bend

The bulk of the book takes place at a fort named Mediobogdum, 9 miles east of Ravenglass.

During an early morning practice session for the 1927 Isle of Man TT, Archie Birkin brother of Tim Birkin, one of the "Bentley Boys" of the 1920s, swerved to avoid a fish-van travelling to Peel and crashed fatality.

Brady's Bend, Pennsylvania

The alarm was brought to Pittsburgh, and Colonel Brodhead sent three of the "brother officers" from Fort Pitt about June 10, 1779, to reconnoiter the Seneca country.
