Bostrom appeared (alongside fellow 'Allo 'Allo! alumnus Sam Kelly) in the BBC radio dramatisation of The Good Soldier Švejk by Jaroslav Hašek in November 2008, playing the part of Wendler.
It is where, at the Czech Crown Inn, Czech author Jaroslav Hašek wrote a substantial part of The Good Soldier Švejk (books Two, Three, and Four) before he died in 1923.
In one chapter of the novel The Good Soldier Švejk the author describes how Švejk meets up with a local gendarmerie officer, who is constantly drunk and who mistakes Švejk for a Russian spy.
