Critically acclaimed video game composer Chance Thomas who worked on the first installment of The Lord of the Rings Online has been confirmed to be working on the expansion.

The expansion The Mines of Moria and subsequent content updates (patches) will signal the end of Tolkien's first book, The Fellowship of the Ring, and set the tone for the second, The Two Towers, which will allow players to visit Rohan, the Dead Marshes, and more.

After departing the town of Faldham, where Elfhelm's son Elfmar rules in his father's absence at the Fords of Isen, they make their way to Eaworth in the Entwash Vale, near the edge of the Fangorn Forest.

However, a chance encounter with an Ent from Fangorn reveals that not only the Hobbits are alive, but that Gandalf himself has already seen for their safety.

The Lord of the Rings Online: Rise of Isengard

Riders led by Grimbold hold the Fords of Isen against inevitable assault, while Théodred, son of King Théoden, leads a smaller scouting party into the lands of the Dunlendings, who have been sworn enemies of Rohan for centuries.

The Epic Story was advanced with Volume 3 Book 4: The Rise of Isengard and introduced such iconic characters as Grimbold, Théodred, Grima Wormtongue and Saruman the White.

Saying farewell to old friends, the player arrives at Grimbold's encampment and joins the preparations for the upcoming battle.

The Lord of the Rings Online: Siege of Mirkwood

The game's level cap has been increased to level 65, and the expansion included the conclusion to Volume II of the epic storyline.
