In 1983 the British psychobilly band The Meteors released a version, followed a couple of years later by Dave Vanian and the Phantom Chords.
The Meteors are evidently no relation to the early 1980s British band The Meteors.

John A. O'Keefe, who conducted several studies of the event, proposed that the meteors should be referred to as the Cyrillids, in reference to the feast day of Cyril of Alexandria (February 9 in the Roman Catholic calendar from 1882–1969).
They've also shared the stage with Danko Jones, Thin Lizzy, Fiddler's Green, The Real McKenzies, Talco, HEAT, The Exploited and The Meteors.
