3 unusual facts about The Nun of Monza

The Nun of Monza

Although she was made immortal by Manzoni's The Betrothed, she was described by the contemporary writer Ripamonti with words such as "modest", "respectful", and "obedient".

Her popularity is mostly credited to the novel The Betrothed (orig. Italian: I Promessi Sposi, 1827), generally ranked among the masterpieces of world literature.

When the Archbishop Federico Borromeo came to know about the scandal he ordered a canonical trial of the nun.
