From 1990 to 1994 she was a research assistant at the Berlin gallery Theis and the Berlin Ceramics Museum.

He and his wife Katharina (d. 1582) had three children; in 1583, he married his second wife, Anna Örthin (d. 1589); and in 1590, his third wife, (Anna) Margaretha, daughter of Theis Kochenbecker of Cochem.
Theis area became briefly the center of attention of the press in 1936 when Soviet pilot Valery Pavlovich Chkalov flew on an Antonov ANT-25 plane from Moscow through Franz Joseph Land, Severnaya Zemlya, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and Khabarovsk.
Theis was first elected to the Minnesota House of Representatives in a special election in 2013.
