Stallbaum also edited the commentaries of Eustathius of Thessalonica on the Iliad and Odyssey, and the Grammaticae latinae institutiones of Thomas Ruddiman.

Thomas Ruddiman

He was born at Raggal, Banffshire, where his father was a farmer, and educated at the University of Aberdeen.

He acquired the Caledonian Mercury in 1729, and in 1730 was appointed keeper of the Advocates' Library, resigning in 1752.
