Kauffmann was recently used as part of Itamar Moses’ play, Bach at Leipzig, in which he is seeking employment at the Thomaskirche in Leipzig upon the death of Johann Kuhnau, the Kapellmeister.
The pieces studied during the workshop will be played, among other places, in Bayreuth (Margravial Opera House), Selb (Rosenthal-Theater), Leipzig (Thomaskirche) and Bielefeld (Neustädter Marienkirche).
His father, Michael Heinichen, had studied music at the celebrated Thomasschule Leipzig associated with the Thomaskirche, served as cantor in Pegau and was pastor of the village church in Crössuln.
The choir has performed at Carnegie Hall, Cologne Cathedral in Cologne, Germany, Great St. Mary's Cathedral in Cambridge, the Pantheon and at the Thomaskirche (St. Thomas Lutheran Church), a church in Leipzig, Germany where Johann Sebastian Bach held the position of cantor.
