In 1884, a former prominent member of the Reds front-office, a man named Justus Thorner, invested in the new Union Association club.
Services on this line ran to the following railway stations, Pendas Way, Scholes, Thorner, Bardsey, Collingham Bridge and Wetherby.
In addition to her role as anchor, Thorner also played a minor role in the 1984 Goldie Hawn-vehicle "Protocol".
