Two-thirds of his ancestry is African and, in his mother's direct maternal line, his ancestors can be traced to the Tikar people of present-day Cameroon.

In the PBS television program Finding Your Roots, African American former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice learned she shared maternal heritage with the Tikar.

On the 2006 PBS television program, African American Lives, the noted African American musician Quincy Jones had his DNA tested; the test showed him to be of Tikar descent.


Cameroonian American

The DNA testing recorded Cameroon´s slaves of ethnicities such as Tikar, Ewondo, Babungo, Bamileke, Bamum, Masa, Mafa, Udemes, Kotoko, Fulani and Hausa from Cameroon (many Hausa also came from other places such as Nigeria).
