Since being elected Bingham has been involved with the campaign for a bypass of the village of Tintwistle in his constituency (commonly known as the A57/A628 bypass, or the Mottram–Tintwistle Bypass).
Plans for a road at the eastern end of the M67 passing to the north of the current A628 route past Mottram, Hollingworth and Tintwistle were cancelled in 2009 following four adjournments of the public inquiry due to inconsistencies in the official traffic models.

Plans for a ÂŁ180m improvement to the route by bypassing Mottram and Tintwistle, the A57/A628 Mottram in Longdendale, Hollingworth and Tintwistle Bypass, and the 'Glossop spur' linking to the A57 road are currently at the public inquiry stage but were 'suspended indefinitely' in January 2008.
