During the Second World War he was a conscientous objector and produced 300 meals a day for Toc H.
The school is sponsored by the Toc H Society and administered by the Board of Directors.
Thomson was a personal friend of the Reverend P B Clayton who founded the organisation Toc H and Clayton took part in Thomson’s memorial service at St. Margaret’s Church, Westminster.
"Pow R. Toc H." was renamed "The Pink Jungle" in the "Journey" part of The Man and The Journey.
Toc H is an international Christian social service organization having its origins at Poperinge, in Belgium during the First World War.
