After one year at the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) in Bandung, West Java he was awarded a scholarship to study Chemical Engineering at Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology, where he studied from 1960 to 1965.
After becoming an assistant professor at Tokyo Norin Senmon Gakko Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology, he developed leprosy and entered Ooshima Seishoen Sanatorium in 1947, and Hoshizuka Keiaien Sanatorium, Kagoshima Prefecture in 1948.
A native of Nagasu, Kumamoto and graduate of Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology he joined the Ministry of Construction in 1967.
