It grows in dry, subarid and subhumid bioclimates, on the West coast in the provinces of Toliara (Tuléar), Mahajanga and Antsiranana (Diego Suarez) in altitudes from 0–900 m.
Two additional centers opened in Toliara and Toamasina in 2009 and were the only programs fully funded by the government to combat child labor.
The depression moved southeastward, making landfall in western Madagascar between Morombe and Toliara.
The species has been found only at a single surveyed site at a relatively high elevation in the Andohahela National Park, which is located at the southern end of Madagascar, in the province of Toliara.
