Tadpole's Promise is a children's picture book written by Jeanne Willis and illustrated by Tony Ross, published in 2003.

Although the original edition had illustrations by William Pene du Bois, there have been later editions of the book with illustrations by Pat Mariott, Tony Ross, and Quentin Blake.

He has also illustrated the Amber Brown series by Paula Danziger, the Dr. Xargle series by Jeanne Willis, and the Harry The Poisonous Centipede series by Lynne Reid Banks.

Since then many other stories were published and adapted into a new series (appropriately titled Little Princess), featuring issues such as sibling rivalry, bad manners and attachment.

Xargle's book of Earth Tiggers, about cats, he was highly commended runner up for the 1990 Kate Greenaway Medal from the Library Association, recognising the year's best children's book by a British subject.
