The album marks the fourth Dum Dum Girls release in a row produced by Richard Gottehrer and The Raveonettes' Sune Rose Wagner, and the fifth overall for Gottehrer.

During this break, Dee Dee re-wrote the majority of the songs that would end up on the album while channeling Rainer Maria Rilke, Anaïs Nin, Arthur Rimbaud, Paul Verlaine, Charles Baudelaire, and Sylvia Plath.

The album and track listing were unveiled October 31, 2013 alongside the release of video for the first single "Lost Boys & Girls Club," which premiered with H&M.
