As of 2009 the current project to link the two main modern tram systems (Trambaix and Trambesòs) through Avinguda Diagonal may be considered its successor, even though the exact location of the stations and the nature of the tram system to be used have not been finalized.
Since the entry of the new local government headed by Xavier Trias in 2011, the proposal of connecting Trambaix and Trambesòs through Avinguda Diagonal was dismissed, though it has been agreed to reactivate the linkage project with the Generalitat.
Sant Adrià de Besòs and Estació de Sant Adrià are the respective names of a Rodalies de Catalunya station and a Trambesòs stop together forming an interchange complex in Sant Adrià de Besòs, Catalonia, Spain, to the north of Barcelona.
In 2004, however, two new tram systems were introduced: Trambaix (taking its name from the Baix Llobregat comarca, the western part of the metropolitan area), and the Trambesòs, from the river Besòs which runs through the eastern part).
