She would later become chief executive of that country's state-owned transportation company Transnet, and in 2009 was appointed Group CEO of the Barclays PLC subsidiary Absa, one of South Africa's largest financial services companies.

In June 2007, then Transnet group chief executive Maria Ramos revealed the company's intention to offer the building for sale.
At age 15, he moved to Gauteng to play for the Transnet School of Excellence, an institution that has produced a host of Bafana Bafana stars including Steven Pienaar and Dillon Sheppard.
Transnet operates the Metrorail train commuter service, that connects Ga-Rankuwa to the Pretoria railway station and on to Germiston and Johannesburg Park Station, as well as to the East Rand, Soweto and Vereeniging.
