Kontias is situated in the southwestern part of the island, 2 km west of Tsimandria, 3 km southwest of Portianou and 8 km east of the island capital Myrina
The village was first mentioned as Repanidion in 1285 in a census record of the monastery Pteris, that was located near Tsimandria, southwestern Lemnos.
