Tulare Lake, a lake in Kings County, California, in the United States
The expression "out in the tulies", referring to the 3–10 ft-tall sedges lining the lakeshore, is still common in the dialect of old Californian families and means "beyond far away".

This creek was the place first settled by Dave Kettelman, a 49er that went back to the Missouri River, and returned with a herd of cattle, which he pastured on his ranch in the Kettleman Plain and the Kettleman Hills west of Tulare Lake.
