FitzGerald was born in Tullamore, Ireland, the son of John FitzGerald and his wife Catherine Naghten, née Higgins.
Tullamore is the first town mentioned in the original (Australian) version of the song "I've Been Everywhere".
Drumcondra House became the residence of Charles Moore, then second Lord Tullamore, and afterwards Earl of Charleville, who was married to a Coghill niece who following Moore's death remarried a second husband Major John Mayne, who assumed the name of Coghill, and was created a baronet.
Buckley was born in Tullamore, County Offaly, Ireland and is now living at The Oratory, Larne, County Antrim, a house which used to belong to the Catholic Diocese of Down and Connor and which Buckley refused to leave following his suspension from the priesthood in 1986 by the then bishop, Cahal Daly.
Tullamore features as the English nurse in the 2008 French film Les Femmes de l'ombre (Female Agents), directed by Jean-Paul Salomé and starring Sophie Marceau.
