It was then used by the Admiralty as a storage depot until 1961, except for the north west section which was taken over by UKAEA in 1956.
Until 2009 he was Director of UKAEA Culham Division, which holds the responsibility for the United Kingdom's fusion programme and operation of the Joint European Torus (JET).
