The club was poised to "go the way of the dinosaur" before the politician Khairy Jamaluddin, who along with radio DJ Jason Lo was the co-creator and Executive Producer of the MyTeam series, decided to take over the club and form a base for MyTeam to became a professional competitive team.
There he was responsible for the development of UPB-MyTeam's very young squad, which produced many Malaysian national players, including Norshahrul Idlan Talaha, Shakir Shaari, Bunyamin Umar, Syed Adney Syed Hussein, Stanley Samuel, Azmi Muslim,Nazrin Nawi and Azamuddin Akil.
In 1995 a second campus for professional education known as University Polytechnique of Bobo (UPB) was opened in the city of Bobo Dioulasso and a third campus for teacher training in Koudougou in 1996.
