Ubon Ratchathani Rajabhat University, an upgraded technical college just north of the central city.

Wat Nong Pa Pong, for example, is a Buddhist forest monastery in the Thai Forest Tradition, which was established by Venerable Achan Chah Subhaddo in 1954.

Mahachulalongkorn Ratchawitthayalai University is a Bangkok Buddhist university with a small campus on Wat Mahawanaram in the city, and a new and much larger, but isolated campus in Tambon Krasop, northeast of the Ring Road.

As well as being a commercial facility, Ubon Ratchathani Airport is also an active Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF) base, the home of 2nd Air Division/21st Wing Air Combat Command.


Mun River

Thanks to the Andy Williams hit song, the Mun River was called 'Moon River' by U.S. Air Force personnel stationed at Ubon Ratchathani airbase during the Vietnam War.

Rail transport in Bangkok

Trains travelling on the Northern Line to Chiang Mai, the Northeastern Line to Nong Khai and Ubon Ratchathani, and the Eastern Line to Aranyaprathet originate at the station, and so do some trains of the Southern Line, which terminates at Su-ngai Kolok and has a connection to Malaysia (the other Southern terminus is Thonburi).

The monastery is in Isaan, the north-eastern region of Thailand, in the district or amphoe of Warin Chamrap, Ubon Ratchathani Province, Tambon Bung Wai.
