Udayana also known as Udayanācārya (Udyanacharya, or "Master Udayana) lived in the 10th century, in Kariyan village in Mithila, near present day Darbhanga, Bihar state, India.
Many distinguished poets of ancient India, who flourished evn before Sri Harsha, have referred to the love of Udayana and Vasavadatta, and the devotion of Yougandharayana for his master Udayana.
