Charles Piper

Piper's knowledge of grasses led him to become Chairman of the United States Golf Association's Green Section from 1920 until his death.

Golf Industry Show

The Golf Industry Show is an annual trade show put on by the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA), the National Golf Course Owners Association (NGCOA), the Golf Course Builders Association of America (GCBAA), the American Society of Golf Course Architects (ASGCA), the National Golf Foundation (NGF), the United States Golf Association (USGA), the International Golf Course Equipment Managers Association (IGCEMA), and the Society of Golf Appraisers (SGA).

Herbert Wind

The United States Golf Association presented Wind with the Bob Jones Award, its highest award, in 1995, the centennial of the USGA.

J. Reginald Murphy

From 1994-1995, Murphy served as the president of the United States Golf Association.

James F. Burke

At one point the United States Golf Association asked him to prepare a set of rules which was ultimately presented to the international committee at St Andrews in Scotland.

United States Golf Association

On December 22, 1894, the Amateur Golf Association of the United States was officially formed, and was shortly thereafter renamed the "United States Golf Association." Theodore Havemeyer was the first president, and the U.S. Amateur trophy is named in his honor.

The USGA partnered with World Golf Tour in 2009 to co-host the first annual Virtual USGA Championship online.

Wike

Wike is home to several golf courses including Leeds Golf Centre, which is in turn home to Wike Ridge Golf Course, an 18-hole USGA standard course and The Oaks, a par 3 course.


Congressional Country Club

The course has hosted two USGA amateur golf tournaments: the U.S. Junior Amateur of 1949, won by Gay Brewer, and the U.S. Women's Amateur of 1959, won by Barbara McIntire.
