Alastair Bradley Martin (March 11, 1915 – January 12, 2010) was a U.S. National Championships title winner, Tennis Hall of Fame inductee, and president of the United States Lawn Tennis Association.
So, Julian Myrick of the United States Lawn Tennis Association decided that a U.S.-Britain competition would be in order for the Wightman Cup.
The WCCC tournament was disbanded by the ILTF when the Australasian Championships was upgraded to major status for the start of 1924, as well as the United States Lawn Tennis Association (and with it, the US Championships to official major status) joining the governing body of the ILTF, also in 1924.
