José Azueta Abad (Acapulco, Guerrero; May 2, 1895 – Veracruz, May 10, 1914), usually known as José Azueta, was a Mexican Navy cadet who became famous for his role in the United States occupation of Veracruz, where he was fatally wounded.
He was a veteran of a large numbers of conflicts, including the Philippine–American War, the United States occupation of Veracruz, and both World War I and World War II.
Haislip served in Vera Cruz, Mexico in 1914 after the Tampico Affair.
William Rees Rush (1857–1940) was an officer in the United States Navy during the Spanish-American War, the 1914 United States occupation of Veracruz, and World War I, and was a recipient of the Medal of Honor and the Navy Cross.
It was created on 23 December 1953 and named in honour of Lt. José Azueta, a hero of the 1914 United States occupation of Veracruz.
