After studying at the University of Dundee (then part of The University of St Andrews), in 1897 Forbes worked as a reporter and editorial writer with a local newspaper until 1901 when he moved to Johannesburg, South Africa, where he worked on the Rand Daily Mail under its first editor, Edgar Wallace.

James R. Barr

Robert Archibald from Dundee Technical College revised and corrected the proofs for its publication in 1913.

John Tedder, 2nd Baron Tedder

Tedder became a lecturer in chemistry at Sheffield University in 1955, and then was appointed to the Roscoe Chair in Chemistry at the University of Dundee.
