B. C. Forbes

After studying at the University of Dundee (then part of The University of St Andrews), in 1897 Forbes worked as a reporter and editorial writer with a local newspaper until 1901 when he moved to Johannesburg, South Africa, where he worked on the Rand Daily Mail under its first editor, Edgar Wallace.

He founded Forbes magazine in 1917 and remained Editor-in-Chief until his death in New York City in 1954, though assisted in his later years by Bruce Charles Forbes (1916–1964) and Malcolm Stevenson Forbes (1919–1990), his two eldest sons.

He has been a visiting Fulbright Professor at the University of Warwick in England, where he also spent time at Oxford and the University of Essex.

James A. Forbes

(born 1935) is the Senior Minister Emeritus of the Riverside Church, an interdenominational (American Baptist and United Church of Christ) church on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, New York City.

The church stands on the border of the Morningside Heights and Harlem neighborhoods, and serves an interdenominational congregation.

Pallid sturgeon

Taxonomists S.A. Forbes and R. E. Richardson classified the pallid sturgeon in 1905, grouping it in the Parascaphirhynchus genus and the Acipenseridae family, which includes all sturgeon worldwide.
