The four band members met in Mandeville, Louisiana, a small suburb north of New Orleans, and within 15 months were signed to a record deal with Wind-up Records.
They released one studio album through Wind-up Records in 2000 and toured internationally before disbanding two years later.

American Pearl played in various L.A. clubs before being signed to Wind-up Records in 1999.
They were signed up Up Records and released "So White" (a 7" single) and the album "Juned" in 1994, the single "Possum" in 1995 and the CD "Every Night For You" in 1996.

Released in 2005 by Wind-up Records as a promotional CD in Europe, the EP contains the song "Metalingus" from the band's debut album, One Day Remains, in addition to three rare live songs recorded on March 28, 2005.
Starting as an active band in 2008, their music was produced independently, with help from Cannery Row Records of Berlin, Jump Up! records of Chicago, Illinois, and Zamzama Productions of Paris, France.
