The Takutu River (Takatu River, Tacutu River) is a river in the Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo Region of Guyana.

Lethem, the regional capital of the Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo region, is situated 180 km north west of Aishalton; and Dadanawa Ranch is located approximately halfway between these two centres.
It was found in the Upper Essequibo region of Guyana and is most morphologically similar to B. prouacensis.
Surama is an Amerindian village in the North Rupununi area and the Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo Region (or Region 9) of Guyana, with a population of approximately 230 people.
