Gustaf Forslund was born in Umeå in Västerbotten, Sweden to Lars Anton Forslund and his wife Ida Maria Fällman.
It has over the years have disappeared from southern Sweden and is now only locally in the Norrland coast (Västerbotten and Norrbotten) as well as Canada and Alaska.
Nowadays Norrbotten is considered a separate province, even though provinces had ceased to have any administrative or legal significance hundreds of years before 1810.
