Cenotaph in Východná village was built in honour of killed soldiers, who were militated in World War I and World War II in the name of Východná village.
Today, the fujara has moved from the shepherds' fields to the stage of folk festivals in the Slovak towns of Východná and Detva.

In 1954, parts of the municipalities Pribylina (the majority of which was returned in 2004), Východná, and Liptovská Kokava were added to Vysoké Tatry.
