His songs were performed and recorded by prominent Soviet singers that include Lyudmila Zykina ("I don't need another love"), Iosif Kobzon, Lusine Zakaryan, Muslim Magomayev ("Save the friends"), Sofia Rotaru, Vakhtang Kikabidze, Ruben Matevosian ("Gharabaghtsin").
A People's Artist of Russia (2001), he is mostly known for his songs "Beryoza", "Moi goda", "Olympiada", "Nachalo" performed by Iosif Kobzon, Lev Leshchenko, Anna German, Vakhtang Kikabidze and others.
Apart from Mimino, Kikabidze also performed in a number of other films, including "Don't be Sad" (Ne Goryui), "Melodies of Veriski Quarter" (Melodii Verijskogo Kvartala), and "Completely Lost" (Sovsem propaschij).

He is a People's Artist of Georgia, has been awarded the USSR State Prize and the Order of the King Vakhtang Gorgasali as well as of Nikolai Wondermonger and Knight Cross of St. Konstantin the Great.
