Involved in the development of arts in general, Warland also contributed to the Special Council Committee of the Arts for the Vancouver City Council at that time.
That day Vancouver City Council voted 10-1 not to follow the recommendations of the report, but to reallocate the two curb-side lanes to cyclists for another trial, as part of Council's plan to increase cycling in Vancouver by 10% for the 2010 Winter Olympics.

Vision Vancouver is one of three parties represented on Vancouver City Council in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
In the election for Vancouver City Council held in November 2005, four Vision Vancouver candidates (Raymond Louie, Tim Stevenson, Heather Deal and George Chow) were elected, but the party's mayoral candidate, Jim Green, was defeated by the Non-Partisan Association's Sam Sullivan.
