The railroad was established in 1913 with the help and financial backing of Julius Rosholt, of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and that year constructed trackage from Fairmount, North Dakota southward into South Dakota to Rosholt, then westward to Claire City and Veblen.
John Wesley Young (November 17, 1879, Columbus, Ohio, to February 17, 1932, Hanover, New Hampshire) was an American mathematician who, with Oswald Veblen, introduced the axioms of projective geometry, coauthored a 2-volume work on them, and proved the Veblen–Young theorem.
Apparently, she had been encouraging the students to read Veblen's The Theory of the Leisure Class in addition to the Methodist reader.
