Fort de Condé-sur-Aisne

It is located on the heights of the confluence of the Aisne and the Vesle near the communes of Condé-sur-Aisne and Chivres-Val.

Gaviiformes

Eupterornis from the Paleocene of Châlons-sur-Vesle (France) has some features reminiscent of loons, but others seem more similar to Charadriiformes such as gulls (Laridae).

Vesle

Its flow was recorded over a period of 34 years (1967-2000), at Braine, in the department of Aisne.


George Grogan

In the retreat during Operation Michael in March 1918 his efforts resulted in a bar to his DSO, and during the Third Battle of the Aisne he won his VC for inspiring the defence of a hill above the River Vesle at Jonchery during 27–29 May 1918.

Third Battle of the Aisne

Reaching the Aisne in under six hours, the Germans smashed through eight Allied divisions on a line between Reims and Soissons, pushing the Allies back to the river Vesle and gaining an extra 15 km of territory by nightfall.
