It has several important Victorian listed buildings on it including the red brick and terracotta Victoria Law Courts, Methodist Central Hall, and the seven buildings nearest New Street.
Formal classes commenced on 15 August 1844 in the Old Colony House (situated in the compound of what is now the Guyana High Courts, previously known as the Victoria Law Courts).
Standing at the northern end of the street it is complemented by the similarly coloured Methodist Central Hall, which stands opposite.
