Georgiy Daneliya is the author or co-author of scripts to most of his films; he also wrote scripts for films by other directors, among which are Gentlemen of Fortune (Джентльмены Удачи) (1972) (collaboration with Viktoriya Tokareva), Frenchman (Француз) (1988) with Sergei Bodrov and Hello from Charlie the Trumpet player (Привет от Чарли Трубача) (1998) with Sergei Dernov.
Critical response to Tokareva has been varied, with some Russian critics dismissing her as just another female writer, and critics abroad seeing her as a non-feminist writer less talented than the other popular female Russian writers: Lyudmila Ulitskaya, Tatyana Tolstaya, and Lyudmila Petrushevskaya.
