3 unusual facts about Villa Pisani


Villa Pisani

The initial models of the palace by Paduan architect Girolamo Frigimelica still exist, but the design of the main building was ultimately completed by Francesco Maria Preti.

However, Villa Pisani usually refers to a large, late baroque villa at Stra on the mainland of the Veneto, northern Italy.

Virginia Robinson Gardens

The Renaissance Revival Pool Pavilion was built in 1924 and is modeled after the Villa Pisani in the Tuscan region of Italy.

In the same period, in Veneto there was a rapprochement with the Palladian themes, evident in Villa Pisani at Stra (1721) and San Simeone Piccolo church in Venice (completed in 1738).

It was modeled on the design of the Villa Pisani in Montagnana, Italy in Book II, Chapter XIV of I Quattro Libri dell’Achitettura.

During 2008 the following exhibitions took place : "Traghettare il tempo" at the National Museums at Villa Pisani (Stra), "Oltre" at the Net Center in Padua and "Oltre l'immagine" at the Civic Museum at Piazza del Santo in Padua.

From 16th to 18th century many venetian aristocratic family built their beautiful villas here (like Villa Pisani, placed in the little of Stra, Villa Ferretti-Angeli in Dolo, Villa Widmann-Foscari in Mira and Villa Foscari, also called "La Malcontenta" in Malcontenta), and it is navigable to river boats, whose best example is the famous Burchiello, which used to carry venetian noblemen from Venice to the countryside and is now a tourist attraction.
