30 April: Virgin Radio, originally called Virgin 1215, was launched nationally in the United Kingdom on 1215 kHz at 12.15pm by Richard Branson.
Featuring Graham Dene (ex-Capital Radio and Virgin Radio) and David Hamilton (ex-BBC Radio, Capital Gold and Saga Radio) as the lead presenters, The Wireless provides "a mix of music, entertainment, and information to improve later life in the UK".
His music is romantic, emotional and melodic, and he was nominated for "Talent Europe 1" for 2012 for upcoming artists, as well as "coup de coeur" at Virgin Radio and NRJ.

Geoff Lloyd (born 20 April 1973 in Withington, Manchester) is a British radio presenter best known for his radio shows on Virgin Radio and Absolute Radio, including the Pete And Geoff Breakfast Show (January 2003 to December 2005, alongside Pete Mitchell), The Geoff Show (January 2006 to September 2008, with his co-host Annabel Port) and Geoff Lloyd's Hometime Show (September 2008 to present, again with Port).
It supplied news to its own London Radio stations (formerly LBC), plus Scot FM, Heart FM, and Virgin Radio.
He later moved to drivetime, where he remained on the rebranded 102.2 Smooth FM until March 2007, when a further rebrand to 102.2 Smooth Radio saw him replaced by ex-Virgin Radio presenter Martin Collins.
Simon's radio career included being the voice of Roger Wilde on the Kiss 100 Dangerous Breakfast Show with Dave Pearce and Sarah HB, launching The Morning Zoo on Invicta FM with Neil Francis, (which he co-presented between from 1995 and 1997) and covering weekend shows on Virgin Radio in 2002.
