Penley re-joined the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company again in 1891, playing Punka, the Rajah of Chutneypore, in The Nautch Girl at the Savoy Theatre, while Rutland Barrington stepped out of the role to tour with Jessie Bond.
It opened on 24 June 1876 at the Theatre Royal, Nottingham, starring Kate Santley, W. S. Penley and J. H. Ryley.
The house was built in 1878–79 for Hon. George T. Kenyon, the younger son of the 3rd Baron Kenyon.
