A movie (Conexión Caribe) was filmed and a TV show hosted weekly on Puerto Rico's WAPA-TV.
In the 1980s, Rivera starred in the situation comedies, "Generaciones", (Generations), with Chayanne, "Los Suegros" (The In-Laws) and later in a spin-off of that show called "Los Suegros y Los Nietos" (The In-Laws and the Grandchildren), broadcast by WAPA-TV.
During that era, games were shown on Puerto Rico's national television almost daily (on weekends, twice a day) by WAPA-TV, helping Butler, Frazer, Mario Morales, Georgie Torres, Jerome Mincy and a number of other BSN players to become household names there.
Having become WAPA's top sportscaster, Bracero then took over the transmissions of BSN basketball games (which he shared with Manolo Rivera Morales and Fufi Santori), most of the boxing telecasts, MLB baseball games and football games.
In 1986, José moved on to join future Senator Roberto Vigoreaux in hosting another WAPA-TV game show, Sabado En Grande, when A Millón was moved to Sunday nights.
In 1989, Monclova made his television debut, at a well-known but short-lived comedy section of El Show del Mediodia, at WAPA-TV.
The show had tough competition, such as WRIK/WLUZ's Sandra Zaiter show, WAPA-TV's El Show de Pacheco (with Joaquin Monserrat as Pacheco) and WKAQ-TV's El show del Tío Nobel (Uncle Nobel's Show).
