In 1975 he moved to NBC News, working with Cleveland-based WKYC-TV, before leaving after two years to open a new NBC News bureau in Dallas.
Since 2006, preseason telecasts have aired on WKYC channel 3, with Jim Donovan and former Browns quarterback Bernie Kosar in the booth, and WKYC weekend sports anchor Dave Chudowski as sideline reporter.
While at WKYC, Adair worked with notable co-anchors Virgil Dominic, Dave Patterson, and Judd Hambrick; future Today Show meteorologist Al Roker; and Mona Scott, a reporter-turned-weathercaster-turned anchor who would later become his second wife.
