While the station is licensed to Augusta, its studio/office and transmitter facilities are located across the Savannah River in South Carolina, respectively in North Augusta and Beech Island.
Lori started her first reporting job at WRDW-TV in Augusta, Georgia where she was quickly promoted to noon anchor and later moved to Raleigh, North Carolina where she covered politics and conducted some memorable interviews with Jesse Helms, Elizabeth Dole, and John Edwards.
In 1983, Ziff Davis sold WTOV, along with then-sister stations WEYI-TV in Saginaw, Michigan, WRDW-TV in Augusta, Georgia and WROC-TV in Rochester, New York, to Television Station Partners, L.P. WTOV, along with WEYI and WROC, were sold to Smith Broadcast Group in 1996.
