The first broadcast of the series was June 2004 in Detroit on WTVS.
The station partners with Detroit Public Schools in the management of classical and jazz music station WRCJ-FM (90.9).

WTVS shut down its analog signal, over UHF channel 56, at 12:05 p.m. on April 16, 2009; the switchover occurred after a presentation of the national anthems of Canada ("O Canada") and the United States ("The Star-Spangled Banner").

The CRTC approved and on 1 September 1983, CANCOM began transmitting the four Detroit affiliates of the three major commercial networks and PBS: WJBK-TV, WDIV-TV, WXYZ-TV and WTVS.
