The New York City stores were converted from the A&P brand when the parent company re-branded its NYC stores as The Food Emporium or Waldbaum's.
Waldbaum's was referenced in the CBS television shows The King of Queens, Everybody Loves Raymond, and Happily Divorced.
It was the 12th edition of the event known that year as the Waldbaum's Hamlet Cup, and was part of the World Series of the 1992 ATP Tour.
