Early additions to the farm included the Ghost Town & Calico Railway, a narrow gauge railroad in the Ghost Town area, a San Francisco cable car, a Pan-for-Gold attraction, the Calico Mine Train dark ride and the Timber Mountain Log Ride log flume ride.
Walter Knott purchased the town of Calico in 1952, and restored it; later Knott deeded the town to the San Bernardino County.

The Lincoln Club of Orange County was formed in 1962 by Dr. Arnold O. Beckman, the founder of Beckman Instruments, Walter Knott, the founder of Knottās Berry Farm, and Si Fluor of the Fluor Corporation, among others.
